EXPLORING 'IDENTITY'
When looking into the theme of identity in-depth I found a question that kept reoccurring in my mind was:
One thing I am scared of is talking to people as my shyness is something that I've struggled with my whole life, but have always been working on. I try to push myself into social situations even when I feel apprehensive about them, because I've been taught to always push myself and not let my anxieties define me or my actions. However, I would still say that the resulting shyness from my apprehension about some social situations is a part of my identity because it is something I've always been trying to work against.
Here are my initial notes and ideas:
'Are we defined by our fears?'I found the concept interesting, as when we were asked to ask each other personal questions, one that we asked each other was, 'what are you scared of?' However when I am asked this question I can never answer seriously, usually I will say 'spiders' because that is a less existential fear that is probably less revealing about me than the things I am truly scared of. The more I verbalize my fears, the more worried I am that they will define me.

External InfluencesAs specified in my previous notes, I wanted my study to focus on video games to present the theme of fears. These will be detailed in another blog post where I will talk more in depth about them. I want to study horror games because video games are a big part of my identity in that I've always enjoyed playing them and I've grown up with family members who have enjoyed them too. I am considering going on to study game design, so I wanted a main concept that would revolve my study around this and also give me the opportunity to familiarize myself with 3D modelling, animation, character design and world building as well as concept art.
